No owner inscrptn.Bright,glossy,vibrant colour pictorial illustrated front paper cover with black silhouette figures and red+black lettering but a mildly grubbed white backgrounds and some bleeding from the rusted staples used,rear cover white background with b/w illustration and black text - critics' reviews and publisher's advert for other titles in the same series.Front lower corner tip with a minimal dog-ear crease,rear lower corner with a slightly larger diagonal corner crease and also a small jagged closed tear with no loss, at the lower edge in that vicinity. Narrow, aged sellophane strengthening vertical strips to front and rear hinges.UK, slim,small 8vo wraps,1st edn,2-18pp [paginated] with b/w line illustrations throughout the text and the booklet by Ernest Noble. The original Toytown Story of the famous broadcast play with the following characters: The Mayor's Secretary,Ernest the Policeman, Captain Higgins,Larry the LambThe Mayor of Toytown,Mr Growser,Mr Noah,and The Inventor. Toytown was a BBC radio series for children, broadcast for Children's Hour on the Home Service.The plays were based on a set of puppets created by S. G. Hulme Beaman,who also wrote the stories for the series. Mr. Noah's Holiday as a radio show,was broadcast 21 April,1931. Ernest Noble was a British illustrator of humorous postcards during the 1910s and 1920s.He was born in 1881 in Stoke Newington as the son of a Quaker minister.In the 1920s,he also made a newspaper strip called 'The 80 Adventures of Robbie Crusoe',which was translated in Dutch as 'De Tachtig Avonturen van Robbie Crusoe' and appeared as a newspaper comic.The story revolved around a captain (Hendrik Waterman in the Dutch version) and his cabin boy Robbie Crusoe.
